21 Weeks

Poor lighting.  We got out way later than usual when we take pics, so it's a shady/sunny kind of picture.

Baby is the size of a pomegranate!  He/she is 10.5 inches and weighs about 12.7 ounces.
We have a happy, healthy baby in there!  He/she has a 4-chamber heart, two lungs, two kidneys (one already working!), liver, two hands, two feet, and measuring one day ahead.

How far along? 21 weeks!
Maternity clothes? Yep, I've embraced the elastic waistband.
Stretch marks? Not yet, but this belly is a-growing
Sleep: I'm back to waking up at least once a night, mainly because my hips start to hurt from sleeping on the same side for so long
Best moment this week: seeing Baby Loeffler at his/her 20 week ultrasound!  It was amazing seeing the little one in there moving around and finding out that he/she is growing perfectly.  We also found out if we are having a boy or a girl :)
Miss Anything? life without back pain!
Movement: Every few days I feel a few jabs, but I usually have to be sitting down and very quiet.  I found out that my placenta is in the front, so I won't be feeling baby's daily movements for a few weeks to two months.  It's a bummer because that means Andrew will have to wait longer to feel baby as well.
Food cravings: no cravings this week
Exercise:
3 jogs this week.  I'm starting to feel better when jogging again and even felt like I could go farther the other day, but didn't want to push it.
Moms Into Fitness 2nd trimester strength workout on my jogging days.
Pregnancy Bar Method DVD every other day when I don't jog.
3 mile walks every morning with my two girls (and sometimes Andrew if he can drag his butt out of bed)
Anything making you queasy or sick: not this week
Have you started to show yet: Yep, definitely have the belly.  And I was thinking the other day that I would feel more comfortable in a bikini with this big belly than without.  Even though it's weird watching my waistline expand exponentially, I'm enjoying it.
Gender prediction: We find out at our gender reveal with all of our friends and family.  Both mama and daddy have been thinking it's a boy for the past few weeks.
Labor Signs: nope
Symptoms: Back pain and little jabs from the babe
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!  It was so exciting seeing our little one and we've been looking forward to our party!
Looking forward to:  The big gender reveal is this Saturday!  After weeks and weeks of planning and waiting, we finally get the chance to celebrate this little one with all of our friends and family.  And we're so excited that so many people are able to come! (even though we live in WI and most are coming from IL, they are all so wonderful to make the trip and we couldn't be more grateful for such awesome friends)
We've wanted this for so long that it's kind of surreal that we are finally getting the baby that we have longed for and we can't wait to celebrate with everyone who is so special to us!

Dear Little One,

You have been quite the mover and shaker this week!  I have been feeling your little popping bubbles off and on for a week or two and after the doctor told me that the placenta is in front and it could be months before we really feel you every day, you have been giving me little jabs when I sit really still and am quiet.  Thanks for letting me know that you're in there and moving around :)  Although it is still really weird to feel you moving in there.  We've seen you on four ultrasounds now and this last one you actually looked like a baby and not a tiny alien (I'm sorry, but it's true), it still is just crazy to think that I have a little baby growing in my belly.

We have been busy getting ready for your big party.  July 4th your daddy had the day off of work and we spent all day in the kitchen making food.  You will learn that when we throw a party, we go all out.  And we're not talking about burgers and hot dogs, we're talking complicated recipes based upon the theme of daddy's choosing.  I can only imagine what your 1st birthday will be like!

We are also officially on the downhill with this pregnancy.  I thought it was going really slow in the beginning, now I wish it would slow down!  We are so excited to meet you (after you're done growing, of course), but I just can't believe that we only have 19 weeks left!  While I've had back pain and now this lovely rib pain because of my big ol' belly, I have loved being pregnant and you have made it pretty easy on me.  I hope you continue to be kind to your mama :)

Next time I type a letter to you, I can call you "he" or "she."  Love you, little one.

Love,
Your mama
