Dear Emme,

Another month has quickly passed us by and you are 13 months old. 13 months!

We had quite the month! You got to spend your first birthday in Barcelona. It was a month of a lot of firsts for you. First plane ride, first time in a foreign country, first time eating fun things like octopus, paella, and lobster. We did so many fun things like going to the beach, riding in a cable car, going sailing, seeing animals at the zoo, going to Parc Guell, and walking around Barcelona.

I wish I could say that you're sleeping got better while living in Barcelona, but you were still up 2-3 times a night. You also went on a nursing strike for two days because of your teeth. You were not a happy girl then. But you quickly got back to normal.

While you are still not the best eater, you did try a lot of new foods while we were in Barcelona. You loved chorizo and jamon. Which is not surprising considering I loved it when pregnant with you. You and Charlee also loved eating Spanish tortillas. You both also tried squid, octopus, lobster, paella (with squid ink), horchata, croissants, and churros.

You loved going to the zoo and seeing all the animals. However, you would get so excited whenever you saw a pigeon. And there were a lot of them in Barcelona. You would start shrieking and pointing.

Oh and you also started standing by yourself! Whenever we say "no hands!" you let go and stand. You were so proud of yourself. You love cruising around while holding my hands. We thought for sure you would start walking on your own when we were in Spain, but you are still content just holding someone's hands. I think you will start getting more confident soon.

You are such a smiley, happy girl most of the time. You adore your big sister. You always want to be close to her and do everything she does. I'm so thankful that you two have each other. You make each other laugh, want to dress alike, play chase with each other. Charlee loves to show you new things, help you, chase you around, and make you laugh.

I can't believe how fast time is flying and how much you are growing.
Love you so much Emme bug!

Love,
mommy

EAT

This girl is getting much pickier. Meals are becoming smaller and more ends up being fed to the dogs. She much prefers a liquid diet. But girlfriend does love her carbs. Bread, crackers, cereal are all favorites.
She still loves hummus, cheese, black beans, apples, peanut butter, eggs, pears, grapes, blueberries, raspberries, peas, green beans.

SLEEP
Sigh. I wish I could say that this has improved. She has slept until 5am twice which has been amazing. But will go back to waking up 4 times a night the next night. I'm exhausted.
Still taking two naps a day.

Dear Emme bug,
One year. It has been one year until you entered this world. It has been the fastest year of my life. I can't believe how much you have grown and changed. I know the years will continue to fly by.

I feel like you have grown leaps and bounds this past month. You are pulling up on everything. You love to stand and you love to sit in the big chairs with your sister. You have been cruising along the furniture and climbing the stairs. Just recently you've started walking with assistance and I don't think it will be long until you're walking by yourself.

You also started signing within just a few days. It started with "milk" then you picked up "more" and "thank you" within a few days. You even sign "more milk" at night when you're ready for bed.

You desperately want to be a big girl and play with the big kids. I know you will be running after them soon, but right now you get really frustrated when you can't do something that Charlee is doing. You get even more frustrated when she has something that you want. You're not very good at sharing right now.

But you are such a sweet snuggly girl.
Love you sweet girl,
mommy
