Visiting Glamma and Pops

At the end of May, we went to Holmen, WI to visit Glamma and Pops and see Aunt Marilyn, Mimi, and Poppi.  Charlee loves to go up to play with the dogs (Lucy, Maddie, and Remy) and to go to the hobby farm that is close by.

First, we had to enjoy a little snack on the deck.

Just lounging on the swing in the backyard watching everyone else do yard work.
Mimi gave Charlee Baby Amy which was the Cabbage Patch doll that she bought for me when I was little.

In the car with Dolly and Clifford getting ready to head to the hobby farm.
We saw a big turkey who was protecting his baby mama while she sat on her eggs under the tree (but her eggs will never hatch because she keeps getting off her nest).

Checking out the baby fainting goats.
Feeding the baby goats with Aunt Marilyn!

Then we visited the donkey.
And the black sheep.

Charlee loves visiting all the animals.  She called for the goats ("GO!") the whole time.  I'm sure this little big girl would be in heaven if she could live on a farm!

19 months

June 24, 2015
STATS
Weight: 26 lbs
Height: 34 inches
Clothes: 2T

EAT
In true toddler fashion, Charlee likes to keep me on my toes.  Some days we like one thing and other days, "how dare you try to feed this to me!"

Favorites: grapes, PB&J, ice cream, donuts, pouches, shrimp, sweet potatoes, chicken, shrimp fried rice, cheese, turkey, pancakes, eggs, smoothies, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries
Enjoying a morning bun at Clasen's
Charlee enjoys picking berries in the garden.  She's in charge of bringing me the bowl and I'm lucky if I can pick them as fast as she can eat them.  (Once the strawberries are in the house, they've lost all their appeal and she doesn't want anything to do with them)
I finally decided to buy some Resqueeze Pouches so I could stop buying the expensive ones and just tossing them.  So far our favorite combos are sweet potato/carrot, sweet potato/mango, blueberry/yogurt/mango/sweet potato
 Enjoying a sucker from Hyvee
 Girlfriend loves her ice cream!

 Helping mama make pancakes
Enjoying a donut at the bakery

SLEEP
I wish kids came with a napping manual!  Poor little big girl can't decide if she needs one nap or two.  Some days she will take a catnap in the morning and fall asleep in the car or in the stroller, and other days I can try to keep her up until 12:30 but she is so cranky!  But then there are those glorious days when she naps for 2+ hours and I can clean the house. High fives!

PLAY
We love to play outside, especially with bubbles.  Charlee loved when she figured out how to make bubbles herself by waving the wand around!
Charlee bouncing on her musical turtle with the baby that Mimi gave her (that I played with them I was little)
Playing on the deck in sensory bins:
Cornmeal
 Oatmeal with Maddie
 Bath time fun!
Someone got a pretty sweet house!  Maybe she'll invite you over for lunch.
 We also experimented window painting.
We found a caterpillar on our walk!
Charlee loves riding in her wagon for walks
Someone found mommy's lipstick.  So pretty!

OUTINGS
We played at Play&Learn a few times.
We went back to Geneva to see family and to see our friends, Liz and John.  Can't believe how big he has gotten!  Two silly friends :)
Not surprising, we spend a lot of time at Target.  Charlee really likes to visit the dog in the kids' section.
And this little big girl has figured out how to hold on to the front of the cart while I push.  Growing up too fast!
We visited Glamma and Pops and saw the animals at the hobby farm near them.   Charlee got to feed the baby fainting goats!
Charlee and Bowen enjoyed seeing the new bears' exhibit at the zoo.

And Charlee LOVED feeding the goats!

LETTER TO CHARLEE
Oh my little big girl,
You are just growing up way too fast!  I can't even believe that in just 5 very short months you will be two!!  You are such a funny little girl and you make us laugh every single day.

You love to give hugs and kisses and "ugga muggas" (thanks, Daniel Tiger), but only if we ask you for them.  You are so very attached to your dogs and always want them near you and to go where you go.  You like to be independent and do things on your own.  But thankfully, you do still ask for help from mom and dad.

You started to go to "school" this month (aka Seventeenth Radish, the play center down the street).  I take you one or two times a week for their activity hour so you can play with friends and mama can go for a run.  Although you have tried to make me think that you have an awful time there by crying when I drop you off and pick you up, I know you have a great time!  All your teachers love you :)

You definitely keep us on our toes with all of your silly requests and demands.  Tonight you had to go to sleep in your coat and shoes.  I took you for a walk today in your fleece bear coat (it was almost 80 degrees outside).  I think you have at least 5 cups of water out at any given time because you need a variety of cups apparently.

You have also become very opinionated about what you wear.  We sometimes have to change your outfit about 4-5 times a day.  And if I let you wear your orange dog shirt every single day, you would be the happiest little girl ever.  I should probably have bought at least 5 of them so you could wear it every day.

I love watching you grow and learn!  I'm sad because I don't want you to grow up so fast, but you are so fun and loveable that I can't help but love every new thing you do and every little change.  This time last year you were sitting and rolling around.  This year your are running, jumping, galloping, climbing, clapping, singing, dancing, and chasing (with the occasional tantrum thrown in there).

We love you so very much, sweet girl!

Love,
mama
