Door Country Vacation part 1

So we did it, we actually took a vacation.  (I'll wait a minute while you pick your jaw up off the floor.)  It's shocking, I know.
Andrew actually planned the whole thing.  Charlee and I (and the dogs) were just along for the ride.

We started our trek up north the first Sunday in October.  Me, Andrew, Charlee, and the dogs.  Yes, that's right, the pups came too.  It was a surprisingly uneventful 4.5 hours up filled with reading books, singing, and petting Maddie.

We made a pit stop in Sturgeon Bay and saw this little gem:
Yes, that is a coat with puppies all over it.

Andrew found us an amazing house in Ellison Bay on airbnb.com.  It made me want to redecorate our entire house.

(Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of the upstairs. And as you can probably tell, these pictures are from when we first got there.  We made ourselves at home rather quickly ;) )

We took a walk to Ellison Bay.  Maddie loved it.  Lucy, not so much (so she's not in many of the pictures).

On Monday, we had lunch in Sister Bay at the Door County Creamery.
Girlfriend crawled around on the floor then inhaled a grilled goat cheese curd sandwich.

Later that afternoon after nap, we walked down to Island Orchard Cider for a tasting.
See that little guy up there?  We saw him and his parents again at a brewery two days later.  They had the same kind of vacation in mind.

Tuesday, we went to Seaquist Orchard to get some cherries, fudge, and pie :) And play a little.

 Someone loves pumpkins!

Then we went to look out over Ellison Bay.

And back to Sister Bay to have lunch at Al Johnson's, famous for goats on the roof!

And promptly after this a meltdown ensued because someone desperately needed a nap.  So mama and Charlee quickly booked it out of the restaurant and across the street to sit outside.  Upon leaving, I noticed that she stole a spoon from Al Johnson's.
Daddy thought that she needed a little goat to remember the trip.  Wrapped. Around. Her. Finger.

 Tuesday night called for snuggles.

Wednesday was chilly, but we bundled up and headed to Peninsula State Park

We went to the look-out tower.  Daddy and Charlee went all the way to the top.  Mama's fear of heights got to her and only made it up half way.

And no vacation is complete without a trip to the local brewery.
Door County Brewery
While Daddy sampled the beer, Charlee explored the pumpkins and the floor plan.

We went to a fish boil on Wednesday night.

(sorry I don't know how to rotate the video)

Stay tuned for part 2!
