17 weeks

Baby is the size of an onion!  (Andrew determined it was a sweet onion or a red onion)  Baby is 5 inches long and 6 ounces.

How far along? 17 weeks
Maternity clothes? oh yes.  In fact, everything in this picture is maternity.  I had to buy another dress this weekend, but only because my black dress from my sorority days didn't fit anymore, so a new black dress was in order... for a funeral, unfortunately :(
Stretch marks? not yet, but the belly is starting to get itchy, so it's only a matter of time.
Sleep:sleep still isn't bad, but I'm starting to feel it more in my hips.  It's getting harder to sleep on my side all night
Best moment this week: getting to spend the weekend with Andrew's college friends.  I wish it was for better circumstances, but it was really great to see everyone
Also getting to hear baby's little heartbeat at my 16 week appointment.
My teammates threw us a baby shower this past week.  It was so sweet and I had a really good time.
Miss Anything? being able to drive or sit in the car without horrible back pain
Movement: nope, the doctor said that I should be starting to feel the baby any time now, but I have a feeling our stubborn baby will wait until the very last minute to let me feel anything
Food cravings: not much of anything this week
Exercise: The pups stayed at Gma and Gpa's this week while Andrew was out of town, so I didn't get my daily walks in.  Baby and I got a few jogs in during the morning (officially got to 2.8 miles!).  I also did some Barre3 workouts, but that has now given me back pain in my lower back and hips.  A trip to the chiropractor will be in my near future.
On the plus side, I only gained 4 pounds in the past 6 weeks! (Thanks to the nurse who told me what I weighed when I purposefully turned away from the scale because I don't want to know)  However, I still weigh more than I would like.  I'm already calculating all of the weight I will have to lose this winter.
Anything making you queasy or sick: not this week
Have you started to show yet: Yep, the baby bump is here to stay for the next 5 months.  I always wonder what people think when I am running.  Does it look like I'm pregnant or that I'm really chubby and ate way too many cookies?
Gender prediction: I have no idea.  All of my kids thing that it's a little boy.  Andrew is still hoping for a boy.  People keep asking me what I think it is, but I don't have any strong feelings either way.  I would love to have a girl first and then a boy, but I will be thrilled with either.
Labor Signs: nope
Symptoms: It seems that back pain is here to stay for a while.  My back hurts all the time, especially when I'm driving.  I need to make an appointment with the chiropractor soon.
Belly Button in or out? in
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: I've been pretty moody lately, crying a lot and just plain overwhelmed with everything baby.  I hope that once school ends this week, I will feel a little better.
Looking forward to: June 13 at 3:17pm when school officially ends.  Until then, I have a lot to pack up still and lug home.  I love my job, but it's time to move on to the next chapter.

Dear Little One,

We had quite the week, just you and me.  Your daddy was in Texas and Florida and your big sisters were at your Gma and Gpa's house for the week, so it was just the two of us.

I got to hear your sweet little heartbeat on Tuesday at our 16 week appointment.  157 bpm!  If the old wives' tales are true, you might be a little girl, but we'll see in a few weeks when we have your gender reveal with our family and friends.  I hope you will be cooperative and not stubborn.  Your daddy is chopping at the bit and wants to know if you are a boy or a girl right now.  It cracks be up because before we got pregnant he would tell me how he didn't want to know and wanted to be surprised and as soon as those two pink lines showed up, he's wanted to know.  I think we will be able to really start planning once we know.

While I am so excited for you, I'm very overwhelmed right now.  There is a lot to do before you show up.  We have a lot to buy, a lot to get rid of, and a lot to organize.  I did buy you some cloth diapers this weekend on ebay.  Hopefully we can find some that you and I both like.  We finally settled on a stroller and car seat combo.  Our next big decision is the crib.

My school friends threw us a baby shower this week!  They are so excited about you, Little One :)  It was good to hang out and chat with my friends since I was by myself this week (well, you are always here, but you're not really the best conversationalist right now).  Alicia did a great job decorating her house and there was lots of yummy food.  You got some pretty cute things and some bath stuff.

This weekend we went back to IL again.  We attended a funeral for your daddy's good friend's dad.  It was a very emotional weekend, but it was good to see everyone.  They are all very excited about you!  You are the first baby in the Marquette group.  They asked a lot about you and wanted to know if I could feel you moving yet.  You are a stubborn little one, so not yet!

Even though I can't feel you move yet, you certainly make your presence known.  If I eat too much or eat something you don't like, you send a little jabbing pain in my abdomen.  You did this quite a bit this weekend.  You did not like the lemon sorbet that we were survived at the luncheon honoring Alec's dad.  I took one bit and you gave me a sharp jab shortly after to say "No more, Mom!"  I hope that I can start feeling you move soon and not just the little pains you like to give me.

I can't believe that in just 3 weeks we will get to see your sweet little face on the ultrasound again.  I hope that you are cooperative and the tech can see if you are a boy or a girl for the party.  I would like to be surprised with everyone else at the party, but you might have other plans.

I love you so so much, sweet pea!

Love,
Your mama
